Apartment C is situated at the center of Shanghai City, with an area of about 200 square meters. At the beginning of the design process, the client conveyed to the designer her preference for a lively and bright ambiance at home, complemented by excellent ventilation and abundant natural light.

Following thorough discussion, the designer decided to give this apartment a colorful block design, creating a series of colorful boxes that enclose the space. The presence of these boxes has effectively reimagined the previously straightforward and uniform layout of the apartment, imbuing the once flat space with a more diverse and dynamic extension. The designer’s primary objective was to establish a well-defined central area, distinct circulation paths, and a range of activity spaces of varying scales for the apartment. To accomplish this, the designer utilized separate cabinet blocks to demarcate living areas, such as the dining room, study, and bedroom, while also ensuring sufficient storage capacity and maintaining a visually uncluttered and organized aesthetic.

The color scheme of the dining room is a captivating wine red, while the kitchen cabinets are a more eye-catching bright red, creating a sharp contrast against the pristine white walls. Knowing that the owner lives alone, the designer ingeniously opened up the adjacent two bedrooms, thereby enhancing the spaciousness and comfort of the entire apartment. Stepping into the bedroom, one is greeted by a serene deep blue color scheme. In addition to the deep blue main color, the light pink and blue blocks with gray tones add a touch of beauty and balance to the overall aesthetic.Taking into account the possibility of future expansion, the master bedroom has been equipped with a dedicated power outlet for a television, allowing for the easy restoration of a two-bedroom layout to accommodate new needs.Replying to the concern of a bright ambience, many glass and mirror elements have been incorporated into the interior design, with most of the internal doors being mirrored, ensuring a continuous brightness throughout the space. Virtually all rooms feature revolving doors, highlighting a more liberated and dynamic lifestyle. The internal bathroom is partitioned by a flexible, angle-adjustable Glas Italia colored glass screen. As the most intimate space within the apartment, the designer has taken great care to ensure that the internal bathroom maintains a close connection with the master bedroom. The flooring of the apartment is a distinctive blend of marble and wooden parquet, featuring white stone and oak boards with warm tones that are meticulously cut into small pixel blocks. This exceptional combination produces a surreal atmosphere that is reminiscent of the artistic style found in the paintings of Paul Klee.
