Cabana Beijing Sanlitun Flagship Store is a design furniture store located at the 3rd floor and 4th floor in the N7 building in Sanlitun North District, Beijing. The original space that houses the store was characterized by an irregular floor plan, with a large fire escape in the middle and other appurtenances taking up a significant amount of space. The continuity of the space has been further broken by four load-bearing columns. Through reorganizing and wrapping the original structures, and an elaborate composition of color schemes and textures, our design was created to resolve the limitations of the original skeleton, redefines the space into one with smooth traffic flow and clear spatial configuration, while maintaining a high visual and functional coherence between the subdivisions.
Cabana北京三里屯旗舰店是一家坐落于三里屯北区中心7号商业楼3F、4F的家具店。该项目原始空间的特点是平面极不规则,消防楼梯和其它附属设施占用了大量面积,并与承重结构一起将空间切割得非常零散。设计的核心任务,便是在原有建筑的不规则空间内,通过重组、消解和包裹建筑的原有构造,以及对氛围、色彩和肌理的巧妙编排,脱离建筑骨架原本的局限,重新定义出一个动线合理、分区明确,且视觉与功能上彼此关照呼应的空间。
The purpose of the 3rd floor is for displaying the furnitures and other design products. A centrifugal layout of this floor centered on the entrance area, which is emphasized by the marble tiles and a sky dome, suggesting the starting point of the traffic flow. Five display areas are arranged radially around the entrance area, their themes/functions are distinguished by soft yet vivid colors: the main furniture showroom in beige; children’s furniture section in pink; kitchen section in ochre; design market in mint green; and a special viewing room for office furnitures in blue. The new walls on one hand redefine the traffic logic out of the irregular original construction, and provide an ample storage and display space with a variety of structures such as niches, cabinets and jib doors; on the other hand, they also deftly wrap up the visually interrupting columns and dissolve the original construction with a sculptural language, ensuring the integrity of the form language of the entire space.
3F用于家具和设计产品的展示与体验,采用了离心式的布局。入口处的地砖与穹顶提示出了动线的原点,由此发散出5个不同主题的展示区域,分别以柔和而鲜明的色彩作出一目了然的区分:米色调的家具单品展示区,粉色调的儿童及趣味家居用品区,赭色调的厨房主题区,薄荷绿的家居小物市集,以及蓝色的办公家具体验区。新增的墙体一方面在凌乱的原始建构空间中整理出了动线逻辑、同时以壁龛、立柜、隐门的多种方式提供了店面所需的大量展示和储物空间;另一方面也巧妙地包裹了视觉上过多的承重柱,并用雕塑式的语言消解了原始建构,确保了整个空间形式语言的完整性。
The 4th floor is reserved for exhibitions and other events. The large, open space is semi-divided by two curtain-like walls, the subdivisions are still connected through the “peek-a-boo” opened corners of the walls. This creates a different sense of spatial scale in contrast of the 3rd floor, while maintaining a high coherence with the latter in terms of material language. As an extension of the interior space, the balcony is highlighted with its marble-collages on the floor and the wall.
4F的功能为举办展览和小型活动,帷幕式的墙面插入大面积的开放空间中,被分隔的区域仍然以“偷瞧”的俏皮方式彼此流通,带来与3F截然不同的空间尺度感,同时又在材质语言上与之保持着高度的延续性。作为室内空间的延展,阳台的地面和墙面均饰以大面积的彩色大理石拼贴,为外立面增强了视觉辨识度。
A complex sanding and plastering process endows the walls of both 3rd floor and 4th floor with a natural, subtle texture, which dissolves the visual sharpness commonly seen in commercial spaces. In contrast, the application of marble on counters, columns and floors enriches the color scheme and texture of the entire space. On each floor, there is one load-bearing column remaining visible in each main display space, which is wrapped in marble veneers of different colors and patterns, transforming it into a visual anchor point of the space. The terrazzo flooring with marble inlay echoes the space with its different colors and shapes. On the 3rd floor, to balance the vivid colors of the walls, the floor is muted with neutral, understated grey cement with simple white marble inlay, which contours a projection of the ceiling. On the 4th floor, the suspended ceiling with triangle elements creates a play of light and shadow, adding a crispy hint of rhythm to the fluid, expansive space. Correspondingly, the marble inlay on the floor is in the shape of the light spots casted through the triangular ceiling grid.
3F和4F的墙面涂料都经过复杂的打磨和涂抹工序,呈现柔和、自然而质朴的肌理,消解了商业空间常见的视觉尖锐感。与此相对的,在柜台、立柱和地面适度使用大理石材质,丰富了整个空间的色彩和肌理层次。每一层主要的两个展示空间各保留一根承重柱暴露在外,以不同颜色和纹理的大理石贴面包裹,使其在视觉上起到对空间进行定义和归纳的作用。地面均采用了水泥自流平结合大理石碎片镶嵌的工艺,镶嵌拼贴的形状与天花设计彼此呼应。由于3F各个空间的明快色彩,地面以中性低调的灰色水泥配合白色大理石地砖,在来访者的脚下勾勒出平面结构的投射。4F的天花以三角形元素的排布营造出斑驳的光影,为流畅开敞的空间加入了一丝略带锋芒的韵律感;地砖则以同样的几何形状,描摹出似有阳光透过三角天花网格投射下光斑的画面。
